Barcode Director offers very flexible and powerful naming capabilities, based on various macros and data derived from the input files. However, the final results of the naming rules are not always easy to visualize.
This sub panel of the Folder/File Name Editor lets you plug in simulated and real data to see how the constructed folder and file path names will appear during production, and to validate their structure and location.
The input file path points to the sample data file, containing real or simulated data, which you can use to test the document output naming procedure and see what results it produces.
The input file path serves to instantiate macro values. Click the Show Macros button to see their actual values.
To use data from an actual page of the input file, click on the down arrow button to select a specific file.
- Click on the Read from Image button. Barcode director will attempt to follow the rules you set out for the barcode validation, and will read the page identified in the Page field, and obtain its value.
To use simulated data instead of real image files
- Generate sample data that follows the same rules with respect to formats, by clicking on the Generate button.
- The real or sample value(s) will be displayed in the Barcode Value fields.
The constructed folder and/or file name, based on these real or simulated values will be shown below in the Result: window.
