How to split files using barcodes |
When the input files may contain multiple barcode pages the need arises to split the files into component documents.
Consider the following requirements
The barcode values will comprise the name of the output folder and/or file name.
In typical bulk scanning operations, multiple paper documents are collected in stacks, and are then scanned in to a single input file. The cover page with the barcode is placed in a top of each document before all the documents are stacked in the feeder. This profile extracts each document from the input file.
Complex transactional documents, such as loan closing statements, medical files, insurance applications contain multiple sections. Barcodes can identify the document as well as its separate sections. By separating the document files into individual section files, accelerates the retrieval of the images for web display and reduces the scrolling of document pages by the viewer.
Fax servers typically bundle a single transmission into one file. If the user faxes multiple pages then a multipage file is created. If the file contains multiple barcode pages, then this profile applies.
Truckers who complete multiple deliveries during a shift, stop at a truck stop and submit multiple barcoded waybills to their headquarters. The resulting file contains multiple barcode pages. If the waybills are longer than one page, then a complex file structure arises
Note: To configure the separation to support service bureau scanning applications with repetitive (non significant) separator pages, see this usage case.
