Barcode Director Service |
Barcode Director Service Manager is an application to install, activate, deactivate and manage multiple instances of Barcode Director Windows services. As services, they will automatically run when windows starts before any user is logged in. Each Barcode Director service instantiates its own session configured with command line options -um -c"ProjectFileName". The service is configured to start Automatically under either Local System account or the specified user account.
To access network folders from Barcode Director Service:
Specifying network access using mapped network drives (e.g Y:) is not allowed from Windows services.
The user interface presents the following major elements:
Click the Add button on Toolbar.
Select existing Barcode Director project file.
If does not exist yet, configure and safe project using Barcode Director application. Test project in Barcode Director before adding it as a service.
If user selects Barcode Director project that is already assigned to existing service, user will be prompted to select another project.
Simultaneously running Barcode Director services should not use the same input or output folders. Using such shared folders may lead to unpredictable results.
Select an account to run service. The account can be either the Local System or a specified user account. For a user account be sure to specify the correct password.
If project is configured to access a UNC path (like //servername/dir1) either as input or output, then the service should be added under a user account that is authorized to access this network location.
Mapped network drives (like Y:) can not be accessed from Barcode Director Service.
Click Add button to install Barcode Director Service.
Your antivirus software may alert you with a warning. Please allow the service to be installed.. Service name starts with BDService, and the application (if displayed) is AlwaysUpService.exe.
The user account password is verified when the service starts. To make sure that password is correct, start the service with the Start button on Toolbar. If error The service did not start due to logon failure is displayed, remove this service and add it again with correct password.
Adding service does not start service automatically. To start project from Barcode Director Service Manager:
Select start new Barcode Director service right after it is installed
Select service in the list. Click the Start button on Toolbar
Barcode Director services will automatically start after system reboot. The services can also be started from Windows Services control panel.
To stop running Barcode Director service:
Stopping service terminates
the current Barcode Director session. Restarting service
create new session.
Service can also be stopped from
Windows Services control panel.
To edit setting of Barcode Director service:
Barcode Director is launched in configuration mode.
To uninstall a Barcode Director service:
